Wong See Yee
Kuala Lumpur-born pianist Wong See Yee began her musical journey when she was six. She learned the electone under the guidance of Mr. Lai Kim Seng. After a year, See Yee started learning piano along with the electone under the tutelage of Mr. Chin Ying Soong and Mr. Lean Hin Chong.
In 1996, See Yee received her first diploma — Licentiate of London College of Music (LLCM). Later, she received her Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). After graduating from the university, she worked full time as a production planning engineer. However, she never wanted to do less with her passion towards music. She spent her days off giving piano lessons, meanwhile continue to strive for her own musical development. She then achieved other music diploma awards -- Fellowship of London College of Music (FLCM) and Licentiate of Royal School of Music (LRSM) in the subsequent years.
See Yee has been teaching piano since 2002. She is a dedicated teacher. Her students’ musical path and their personal development are equally as important for her. With the growing number of students, she set up a music studio named 'Mein Music Leben' in 2018. On top of that, See Yee enjoys collaborating with other musicians. She is an active accompanist for choirs and solo vocalists. She is also a piano accompanist for RAD ballet examinations, instrumentalists as well as percussionists.
In 2012, she was requested by Casio EMI Malaysia as the demonstrator of XW Synthesizers for Malaysia. In the same year, she was invited as a guest performer for the opening ceremony of Chan Lok Hung Commemorative Hall. In year 2014, she performed with La Voce Choir in the music festival in Hamamatsu, Japan. In 2016, she had a collaboration with Mr. Stefano Chen as the tenor and Dr. Khoo Kiak Uei as the narrator to perform the song cycle of Dream of the Red Chamber. The trio was invited to perform in University of Malaya in the subsequent year. In 2017, See Yee was invited by Centre For Malaysian Chinese Studies to perform in the Chinese Assembly Hall in conjunction with their annual grand banquet.
