Ninth Thailand International Composers Competition: 8-13 July 2013
*The Thailand International Composition Festival was established in 2005 with the goal of improving the standard of Composition Education in Thailand and Southeast Asia. The program intends to create opportunities for emerging composers, in order to develop their individual careers and achieve recognition for them.
*This year, the Thailand International Composition Festival - in cooperation with Mahidol University College of Music - offers the Thailand International Composers Competition for emerging composers (born after 1 January, 1977), of all nationalities. *Six (6) participants will be selected for TICF 2013 (8-13 July 2013).
Selected finalists will be eligible for all events of the festival. Each will be invited to receive masterclass feedback from featured, internationally acclaimed composers, a public performance of the selected work, and admission to all concert events and
lecture presentations.
*The competition prize of 1,500 USD will be given to
the winner of which will be announced at the Closing Concert on Saturday, 13 July 2013.
*The cost of finalists’ accommodation including hotel, meals, and local transportation will be covered by the festival. Finalists’ will be expected to provide their own travel expenses and arrangements.
*To be eligible for the prize, finalists are required to participate in the entire festival. This event is sponsored by the College of Music Mahidol University, and the generosity of Individual donors.
Eligibility
1) Applicants regardless of nationality are eligible to apply for the competition.
2) Applicants should be composers at the early stages of their professional careers (born after 1 January, 1977).
3) Scores that have been published, awarded, or commercially recorded are not eligible.
4) The score should be submitted anonymously, bearing a letter or digital code.
5) Any alteration of the score may be permitted under the guidance of master composers during the week of the festival.
6) The submitted work should be between 6‐10 minutes in length.
7) Submitted compositions can include one to six players from the following
instrumentation: flute, clarinet, two violins, viola, cello, piano, and percussion. Doubling instruments from the above mentioned instrumentation (piccolo, bass clarinet, eng. hn., etc.) will be considered.
8) Submitted scores will not be returned.
9) Only one entry per applicant will be accepted.
Submission
1) One bound and legible score, written within the last five years. As an alternative, applicants are encouraged to submit an electronic copy (PDF) of the score via email.
2) Recoding of the submitted work (if available). Midi realization is also acceptable, in CD format. As an alternative, applicants are encouraged to submit MP3 format via email.
3) Composer’s name should NOT appear on the submitted materials (score, the CD, or the electronic files).
4) Bio/Resume, including current address, telephone number, and e‐mail in a separate, sealed envelope.
5) A program note, performance note, and information regarding the performance history of the submitted work, including the performance date(s) and ensemble(s).
6) The deadline for sending the score is 20th March 2013 (date on the post
mark is decisive)

**Award
An honorarium of 1,500 USD will be awarded to the winner of the competition.
All six finalists will be invited to participate in the Thailand International Composition Festival.
*The Thailand International Composition Festival will provide full accommodation including Hotel room, meals, and local transportation for all finalists. Travel expenses to TICF and other arrangements are the responsibility of the participant.
**Selection
Six finalists will be announced no later than May 1, 2013.
