Singapore Chinese Orchestra Composer Workshop 2013
The Singapore Chinese Orchestra CO (SCO) is organising a Composer Workshop on 21 to 22 July 2013. The activities included symposium and reading session of new works to be held on 22 July at 9am – 12noon. SCO is now calling for scores.
Artistic Requirements and Regulations for scores
The forms of compositions must be the large or medium ensembles, or instrumental combinations (e.g. Plucked string, Bowed string). Solo, small-scaled ensemble and concerto are not in the scope of this reading session.
Compositions must adhere to the score format, instrument list and range of SCO as specified in the attachment. While participants need not use all the instruments of the Orchestra. (enclosed)
Percussion section must be listed according to musicians1 to 6, with clear indications of the percussion instruments played by each musician on the score.
Composers are strongly encouraged to specify the Dizi to be used if changing of instrument is required, given the constraints on instrumental range.
Duration of composition must be capped at 3 minutes, there is no restriction on the number of movements. Due to the schedule of the reading session, only 20 minutes of rehearsal and reading time is allocated to each composition, please take into consideration of the feasibility for the reading.
The organiser does not guarantee that all submitted works will be seleted for the reading session.
The selected composition must provide computer printed staff part scores. Please adhere to Singapore Chinese Orchestra’s orchestration, and format for computer printed staff part scores.
